Non-Linear Characteristics Facility
If a waveform is applied to a circuit where the amplitude response is non-proportional to input amplitude, waveform distortion occurs, and additional harmonics are introduced.
The Non-Linear Characteristics tool allows three responses to be applied to any previously defined waveform, using the form shown below.
Three characteristic types can be defined: Saturating, Second order and Third order responses. In the example above, the saturating response in the upper picture is applied to a sine wave, producing the blue waveform shown in the lower picture box.
In addition to the 'quick' time plot, a conventional Time Domain graph can be plotted, as well as a Fourier Spectral plot.
